Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses your skin’s own natural healing process to develop new collagen. Microneedling is based on the use of tiny sterile needles that create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. A small handheld pen like device with a sterile, disposable tip with tiny needles is used to create microscopic channels in the skin. Most people will experience redness and mild swelling similar to a mild sunburn for 24-48 hours and there may be minimal pin-point bleeding and/or bruising.
