How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal uses a laser light energy with a specific wavelength. During treatment, lasers emit energy in the form of light onto the skin. The melanin in the hair absorbs this energy and converts it into heat which then destroys the hair follicles to prevent or stop future growth.  The advanced technology from the Splendor X™ machine harnesses the power of two wavelengths for greater effectiveness for hair-free skin.

What can I expect during my laser hair removal treatment?

Arrive with the treatment area cleanly shaven. A cleansing wipe is provided to remove any makeup, deodorant, lotion or oils from the skin. A laser is then directed toward the area and produces a beam of highly concentrated light. Without damaging the surrounding tissue, controlled pulses of light penetrate the skin and target pigmented hairs and hair follicles.

How many laser hair removal treatments are required?

Thanks to our superior laser hair removal technology, at Louisiana Women’s Aesthetics patients need fewer sessions to achieve optimal results.  Patients generally need an average of 6-10 treatments about 4-6 weeks apart, depending on which areas are being treated. Once patients complete their initial sessions, maintenance treatments 2-3 times per year are required to maintain cessation of growth. The patient will have very minimal to no growth between maintenance treatments. More treatments may be needed for men with denser hair and women with hormonal imbalances. Your hair removal specialist will advise you on the number of sessions required.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Patients report little to no pain or discomfort during laser treatments. Splendor X™’s dual Cooling System combines cooled air and a cooled tip to protect your skin and ensure a very comfortable treatment. At most, patients say it feels as though a rubber band is snapping against their skin.

Am I a candidate for laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal using Splendor X™ is safe for ALL SKIN TYPES. The hair must have dark pigment. Light blonde, red, gray and white hairs will not respond. Those who have a sensitivity to light, including history of epilepsy or light induced seizures or those with a history of hyperpigmentation or keloid scarring need to speak with one of our laser hair removal specialists to determine if they are a good candidate.
